Meet Our Team
Caroline DuellFounder, President
Caroline has been making herbal medicines for herself, her friends and family since 1995, and developed the formula for All Good Goop in 1998. In 2005 she realized it was turning into a business, and established Elemental Herbs in the end of that year. Much has happened in that time, but the process and attention to detail for that original product remains unchanged. With an all-star team, including her husband, Ryan, she doesn’t know how she ever did it without everyone. When not entrenched in company growth, Caroline loves to play on granite rocks, single-track trails, windblown waves and untracked snowfields, all with an eye for new adventures.
Favorite EH Product: "Sunscreen Sport Tinted. I use it everyday.”
Burr PurnellDirector of Marketing
Growing up in Maine on a 150 acre farm with no electricity or running water, Burr learned early on about the importance of caring for the environment and conserving its natural resources. Since joining Elemental Herbs in 2006 his role has grown from Designer to Director of Marketing and as of March, 2008 a Co-Owner in Elemental Herbs. When Burr isn't tapping the keys of his computer you can often find him gardening in his back yard with his wife and two children, riding his road bike in West Marin or running the trails of Mt. Tam.
Favorite EH Product: "Herbal Cool. I take it with me on long training runs and rides."
Ryan RichDirector of Sales
Ryan has been consulting for Elemental Herbs for years and came on board officially in January 2009 to manage national sales accounts, distributors and sales rep teams. As an organic farmer and organic food broker, he brings extensive experience from these industries. Ryan’s passion is growing food and implementing sustainable farm systems. In his not so spare time, he’s an activist and political junkie; but if there is wind blowing on the coast or fresh snow falling in the mountains, you’ll know where to find him.
Favorite EH Product: "Herbal Cool. It has replaced my need for Advil to take the edge off chronic pain."
Audrey Taub Production Coordinator
Audrey joined Elemental Herbs in March 2008 to help out with office work and shipping. She is now taking on coordination of all in house production and support of IT needs. She makes All Good Goop with her baby Hazel on her back! With a diverse background from Washington State wilderness education to NYC financial institutions, Audrey is an expert mathematician and keen animal tracker. She and her family of four moved onto our neighbor’s ranch; now her commute is a five-minute walk through our organic orchards and gardens (fifteen minutes if she finds interesting tracks along the way).
Favorite EH Product: "All Good Goop. I have a big jar for everything. My son Sage loves that it doesn’t sting when he puts it on a bug bite.”
Shannon Marsh Operations Coordinator
Elemental Herbs’ team member since October 2009, Shannon is in charge of customer service, processing orders and inventory. She comes to us with many hours spent in marketing, sales and PR; working for small businesses in the ski industry, artists and a jeweler. Shannon is photographer by trade and lover of music, and she often combines the two interests by “documenting” rock concerts and events. A full time mom, as well, Shannon is the master of “reclaiming” office products that would normally go to waste for her daughter’s elementary school art projects.
Favorite EH Product: "All Good Lips. Been using it for years and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon."
Robbie SwordeBookkeeper
Robbie’s business, Office Works by the Bay, offers full charge bookkeeping in Morro Bay. With over 18 years experience in managing books, Robbie has been influenced by working with green businesses that inspire her to adopt a “lifestyle with more attention to earth-friendly options”. Aside from crunching numbers, Robbie loves cooking, photography and the beauty of the central coast. She feels “at home” on the farm, and has won the heart of Caroline’s regal canine, Sequoia.
Favorite EH Product: “Wow, tough to choose! Love the tangerine lip balm and All Good Goop is miraculous.”
Connor Huff Sports Marketing Intern
Connor is our student intern in charge of sports sponsorship relationships. As a fourth year Business Marketing Major at CalPoly, she adds her academic strength to the team. In her words, “With my business major I'm excited for this internship so I can utilize all that I've learned. I feel that Elemental Herbs will be the perfect place to work on these skills!” With extensive experience in retail sales, and a sharp eye for brand image, Connor brings a fresh energy for Elemental Herbs’ 2010 summer season.
