We are living and dying by Elemental Herbs up here on Everest. There was panic when we thought we lost our jar of Goop.

Activity: Mountaineering
Activism: Healthy Youths

Jordan Romero, his father, Paul Romero and stepmother, Karen Lundgren, were Elemental Herbs inspiration for starting a sponsorship program. Caroline met Paul at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City in 2007 where Paul walked away with a bottle of Herbal Cool. Their next correspondence was a note from Paul’s blackberry on his way to an adventure race in China, “Your sore muscle spray stopped my back pain in 15-30 minutes. Dynamite Stuff – thank you!”

Soon after, Elemental Herbs learned that they were running ZERO WASTE multi-sport adventure races and supporting their youngster, Jordan, in his climbing pursuits. The partnership was formed, and it’s been a phenomenal experience.

Jordan Romero is a world record holder and world-class mountaineer. He is also a thirteen year old with an old soul and better judgment than most adults. He has stood on the summit of the tallest mountains on every continent, and is not stopping until the final one is in grasp.

When Jordan was ten, he, with Paul and Karen, climbed 19,340-foot Kilimanjaro (Africa), 7,310-foot Mount Kosciusko (Australia), and 18,510-foot Mount Elbrus (Europe). At 11, he set the age record on 22,834-foot Aconcagua (South America) and climbed 20,320-foot Denali (North America). Last year, he climbed Indonesia’s 16,023-foot Carstensz Pyramid, the highest point in Oceania and the so-called “eighth” summit.

When he’s not trekking and climbing in an exotic place, Jordan lives and goes to school in Big Bear, CA. There he is an inspiration to young adults in the LA basin, and once he told us, “It’s so cool to see kids get excited when they realize how good it is for them to exercise, and that it’s totally free.” He started a snowshoe club for kids in Big Bear and got the locals to take part in a “Seven Summits of Big Bear Challenge”… stay tuned for what unveils next.
