Arnica
Arnica montana

- Contains helenalin and thymol which reduce inflammation
- Relieves pain associated with bruises, soft tissue injuries and muscle soreness
- Encourages rapid recovery from physical trauma
- Warning: For external use only (Homeopathic solutions are an exception)
Balsam Poplar:
Populus balsamoides

PROPERTIES:
- Traditionally used in Native American medicine for sprains, inflammation and muscle pains
- Contains a resinous sap rich in Vitamin C and salicylic acid (aspirin)
Calendula:
Callendula officinalis

PROPERTIES:
- Has aromatic qualities that promote relaxation and relieve tension headaches
- Used as a sleep aid, antispasmodic, antidepressant and analgesic
- Highly effective in treating minor burns (including sunburn)
- Prevents scarring; soothes eczema and insect bites, also works as an insect repellent
- Helps reduce inflammation and heal rashes, bruises, minor cuts and sores
Comfrey:

PROPERTIES:
- Historically called knitbone or bruisewort to describe its rapid healing powers
- Contains allantoin which stimulates cell proliferation
- Expedites healing of sprains, broken bones, arthritic joints and other wounds
- Effective in treating eczema, dermatitis and viral skin infections
Green Tea:

PROPERTIES:
- Synergistically enhances the sun protective qualities of zinc oxide by stopping free radicals
- Extensive research confirms the high polyphenol anti-oxidant activity found in green tea
- Protects against skin cancer and helps reduce inflammation in association with rosacea (skin condition)
Lavender:

- Works as an astringent, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-fungal

- Soothes pain from injuries, irritations, and wasp or bee stings

- Works as an analgesic for neuralgia, backaches and sciatica
- Applied effectively on tennis elbow and general joint inflammation
Yarrow:
Achillea millefolium
Compositae Family
PROPERTIES:
- Used topically for wounds, cuts and abrasions
- Relaxes peripheral blood vessels, cleans wounds, encourages clotting and reduces swelling
- Historically associated with the Greek warrior, Achilles, for using the herb to heal wounds of his soldiers in battle
- Can be planted in the garden to combat soil erosion
